Children’s Room

Design Challenge
My clients were building a much larger new home that was to include all new furnishings. Because of the scope of the project, they knew they needed a professional to help realize their vision of a light-filled, comfortable, serene and inviting home. As studs turned into rooms and rooms turned into a house, my clients stressed that they wanted each guest bedroom to have its own feel. The homeowners wanted this “Jill” bedroom, a children’s room designed with little visitors in mind, without being too “cutesy” and wanted it to tie in to the attached “Jack” bedroom in some way.
Design Solutions
In lieu of a dresser, a custom closet with ample drawer space was installed. The “Jill” room was designed with twin beds for the young guests to share. The custom cream upholstered beds were dressed with a simple, but beautiful cream coverlet. The added floral band gave the coverlet a more custom look, while tying to the beautiful cream, pink, orange and green floral window treatments. These shades of green are the thread to the adjoining “Jack” room. The blackout lining and traversing feature of the window treatments allow for perfect conditions at nap time.
The artwork selected keeps the room from feeling too “cutesy”. The “Rambling Rose” area rug was just what the room needed to take it from PRETTY to WOW! This room has been the favorite of everyone who has seen this amazing new home.
Unfortunately the home was hit by lightening, the house burned to the ground and was totally re-built this year. Since the arrival of a small boy in the family, it was decided to make the pink girlie room a gender neutral kids room. See the new children’s space>
