Project Overview:

After a devastating fire, this client’s complete home was rebuilt. As part of the total redecoration, Kathy needed to create a new kid’s bedroom suitable for two little guests.

This happy children’s room needed to be gender neutral so we selected sunshine yellow, outrageous orange and turquoise based on the animal print artwork. Bold yellow & white horizontal stripe drapery panels frame the beautiful grounds outside.  It’s such a fun and happy kids bedroom they’ll never want to go home!

Bright & Happy Kids Room

This 3-4 year old home was struck by lightning and was a total loss. We needed to create bedrooms that felt like home yet would feel different enough than what was lost. The prior children’s guest room was adorable and done with a little girl in mind (see previous award-winning bedroom.) But there is now a need to be gender neutral as there is a little boy who will also be visiting and who needs to feel welcome.

We kept the same basic layout with twin beds for the sister and brother. Bright and happy colors were selected that were driven from the artwork of the elephant and the giraffe. Sheer window shades were selected for the windows as that side of the house gets a lot of sun and they allow flexibility on light control.

Bright, yellow and white horizontal striped custom drapery panels frame out the window. The same stripe was added to the custom duvet cover as well as a colorful plaid for more interest. The plaid was also used on decorative pillows. The fun, outrageous, orange fuzzy fur was used on both the accent pillow and the seating blocks allowing the kids to have a seat or when adults read them a bedtime story. The nightstand was painted a sunny orange to add a bit more pop and fizz. The visiting children are sure to sleep well in this delightful kid’s room.
