A Blushing Living Room

The soft neutral palette stays interesting with a lot of different textures: chenille, faux fur, clear Lucite metallic threads, polished chintz, chrome, rustic fir wood, sleek mahogany, mirrors, and mercury glass. Curves and angles combine with the textures to create a comfortable and elegant living room.

Project Overview:

This very traditional two story living room was empty and dull even with lots of windows. The new owners were young and wanted a contemporary setting for entertaining, but still suitable for their young children. The original plan was to replace the carpeting with hardwood floors, but as the project progressed the hardwood floors were postponed, so the design plan was adjusted. The client came to Decorating Den with several pictures of neutral rooms showing the style of curved upholstery that she liked to help in the interior design process.

A Blushing Living Room

  • Soft chenille pillows on the velour curved settee.
  • Acrylic legs on the clover ottoman and in the lamps.
  • Bright chrome and glass in the accent tables and chandelier.
  • Rustic fir wood in the mirror that perfectly fits the existing frame molding over the fireplace.
  • Mercury glass in the mantel accessories.
  • Dark mahogany trim on the chairs and end table.
  • Metallic threads in the drapery fabric and accent tassels.
