Project Overview:

Rooms with tall walls can be a serious design challenge. Clients feel dwarfed by the huge expanse above them which makes them uncomfortable and cold. They look at the height of the windows… then call a decorator.

This family room already had a tall fireplace with shades of brown which complement the warm wood floors.

Tall custom drapery panels, in an interesting geometric pattern, cover the top and bottom windows. The custom drapery rods are curved to the shape of the angled walls. The gray furniture grounds the family room and is seated on a custom made rug with the colors of the family room.

The color Chartreuse is threaded throughout the space adding a freshness that enlivens the whole room. The solid ottoman can double as a table if you have a large tray or you can just put up your feet.

The height of the ceiling confuses the eye and makes the ground space look small. But if you take into account that there is a large sectional and two armchairs, plus the ottoman, you realize the space is large. The designer has a great eye for spacial planning and this colorful family room is now balanced and ready for the family.
