A Different Master Bedroom

My clients were building a new home and wanted the master bedroom to feel completely different from the house they were leaving.

The homeowners were not planning to bring many items from their old home, but did want to use their old bedroom furniture. Both homeowners are light sleepers, so windows around the room would need to be addressed with their sleeping comfort in mind. Additionally, the windows in the room were not all at the same height.

Some of master bedroom furniture from their old house was used, but in order to make the bedroom an open space, the triple dresser had to be eliminated. Custom closets, with ample storage, were installed in lieu of a dresser. A custom cream upholstered bed was installed, which included a nice, firm padded back for reading in bed. The rooms color inspiration of turquoise and navy came from the beautiful, abstract floral artwork that we installed above the bed. Another beautiful floral piece of art with shades of blues and corals added an additional punch of color to the room.

Fully functioning, blackout Roman shades in navy and turquoise were installed and mounted at the same height to give the illusion of window symmetry. Side panels in a cream, navy and turquoise embroidered fabric were added to the larger window for a soft aesthetic, and to frame the lovely view of the pool and manicured yard. Custom navy bedding trimmed in turquoise adorn the bed. A coordinating navy and turquoise floral fabric pops on the custom Euro shams and upholstered chest at the foot of the bed. The beautiful turquoise rug really adds some wow to the room against the wood floor.
