Bucks County is located northeast of Philadelphia in Pennsylvania and has a population of 625,249. The county is named after the English county of Buckinghamshire. The county is one of the three original counties created by colonial proprietor William Penn in 1682. The area was named after a few locations in Buckinghamshire, including Buckingham Township, Chalfont, and the location of the Jordans Quaker Meeting House, Solebury Township, and Wycombe. Bucks County was originally much larger than it is today.
